About this Partnership
The Higher Education Coordinating Commission and the Oregon Employment Department (OED) have partnered to deliver an innovative digital inclusion service using the capabilities of Free Geek, a vendor based in Portland. This pilot program gives 121 eligible SNAP participants across Oregon the opportunity to participate in online skill development and training, job search classes, networking opportunities, and more. As a contract partner with the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS), OED is seeking to expand services, access and support to SNAP participants using technology solutions at a time when WorkSource Oregon centers, community colleges, and other locations closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We believe this pilot program lays the foundation for expansion in the coming year to more than 400 customers across the state of Oregon.
